Ambrosia on My Mind

Two weeks ago, I was reviewing product term papers and related studies for my internship. It was dreadful taking them to my house and understanding the said studies over the weekend – especially on Sundays.

Speaking of Sundays, noon time Sunday is always my Dad's time for playing his favorite oldies music. Most of the time, my Dad's playlist would be Chicago, Air Supply, or the Carpenters. And he plays the songs in maximum volume! His sleepy music even reaches up my room.

Not that I dread the songs of these multi-awarded artists. It's just that my Dad's playlist has always been playing on my mind up to now. Sheesh. Can't imagine my pop-rock-rnb taste would be influenced by the 70s or 80s ballad.

But there was a song that kept running on my mind. Everytime I hear it on the radio, I always tell myself I'd ask Dad about it. It was just this weekend that I was able to ask him. The lines of the song goes like this:

I gave to you

My heart and soul

Now I just need

To let you know

You're part of me

That I just can't let go

It was an oldies song so I asked my Dad. He said the artist was Ambrosia. I initially thought it was a female artist with an old, manly voice. He explained it was a 70s group whose influences are The Beatles and the Beach Boys. Ok, I was forced to be familiar with these bands.

Ambrosia

So anyway, I put down the term paper that I was reading and my Dad led me to his record collection and showed me an album of Ambrosia. I was surprised myself that I requested him to play the song for me (that's I Just Can't Let Go).

So until now, I have this last song syndrome playing over and over again. When I went to work, my colleague even said I was humming a song she couldn't recognize. I think I like some oldies song now. It has been days since Ambrosia's on my mind.
